Congratulations to the Eagles for starting off the season 1-0 for the first time in 13 years. This years team has been talked about for the past 4 years. The coaches have known they have the talent needed to be successful. If they keep their heads up and the hearts strong they will impress the football world this seasonl.

2010 Rosters Updated: The new roster for the following football season is all updated for the public's eye.

Website Updated: The entire site was overhauled on 8/12/2010 and everything is updated.

Weightroom Records: The weightroom records are to date and we have a breakthrough with a young man finally breaking the 300 mark in bench. Lets hope we can reach our goal and get around 10+ breaking the 300 plus mark on a yearly basis.

EINSTEIN HOUR

A group of caring teachers have come together to establish a large study table/ called "Einstein Hour". The study table will be offered every Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30. We will have students sign up at Mr. Nelson's room (21) ahead of time. This will allow us to arrange tutors and teachers for the different subject areas needed. Realize we are not just going to have students come in and study, we are going to line up tutors ranging from high achieving students to individual teachers. Also, if you are not fortunate to have a computer at home our study room offers 24 working computers. As a checkup we are going to  send an email to every parent informing them that their student attended study table after each study session. The football staff expects every player that has a D or an F in a class to attend the weekly study session. We must get everyone of our students to strive for a higher bar. An extra motivator is that Columbia City High School has changed its athletic grade restrictions. In the past if you failed to many classes in the fall you could raise the grade in summer school. If you did not raise your grade in the summer you had 6 weeks the following year to maintain a passing grade in 4 classes. The new school rule states that if a student does not pass 4 classes during the 3rd trimester they will not be eligible for 12 weeks in the fall. This basically knocks them out of an entire season of football. We must use this new rule as a motivator for our young student athletes. Please join us in our march to the top.

PRESS RELEASE

COLUMBIA CITY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL BOOSTERS
ESTABLSIHES OFFICAL TAILGATE SITE

(Tailgating is the same for the 2010 season)

The Columbia City Football Boosters will open an additional tailgate site located on the east end of the high school in the parking lot where the tennis courts used to be near the main gate of the Max Gandy Football field.  The area will be barricaded after school and before the gate around 4:00p.m.  Booster parent volunteers will monitor the site and will allow any qualified tailgating vehicle into the area from 4:30 p.m. up and to the game.  Families and friends are encouraged to come to the ball games early to help show community support.  Qualified vehicles should have at least two of the five items listed to be allowed in the tailgating area:  Cooler with food & soft drinks, music, chairs, games, and/or grill. No alcoholic beverages are allowed.  The Booster’s Tailgate site will be open at the following home games:  August 28-Huntington, September 18-Dekalb- Homecoming, October 2-East Noble, October 16-Norwell-Senior Night.
Coach Randy Huggins spoke to the Football Booster parents earlier this summer and shared his vision of creating more of a community gathering around home football games.  The new tailgating site is one of the first efforts in sharing his vision.  The Football Boosters encourage the other school related organizational activities to continue as usual in addition to the new tailgate site.

The Columbia City Football Boosters are a parent run volunteer organization which supports the activities of the high school football program.  Donations gained are used to help offset costs for player clothing, meals and equipment.  The Columbia City Football Boosters would like to thank the sponsors of this year’s football poster:  Big G’s title sponsor, Gold Canyon, Espich Printing, Sports Center, Armstrong Corporate Park, Whitley County Family YMCA,  Smith Brothers Towing and Recovery, Builders Mart, Chad Moore Photography Studio, J&J Insurance, Firestone Start Tire and Automotive, OVT Oak View Tooling, Subway, Flow Tech, Kriders’ Meat Processing, Stafco, Culligan, Greatmatch Medical, State Farm Insurance.
